About The Author

Originally from Greenwich, Connecticut, I have lived in the Asheville North Carolina area since 1989. I have a Master's degree in Ecology from the University of Vermont, and have worked as a research scientist, military officer, lecturer,  marketing director, painter and illustrator. I have also  lived in Vermont, Georgia, Korea, Brazil, Colorado and Connecticut before settling down in beautiful Western North Carolina. One of my passions in life is coaching track and field and I am the hurdles coach for A.C. Reynolds High School team and the Asheville Lightning Junior Olympics Team. www.greathurdlers.com.

During my career as a graphic artist, I  completed more than 2,000 commissioned pen and ink drawings of private homes,  buildings and churches.  Distinguished clients include Former President and Mrs. George Bush Sr., Governor and Mrs. James B. I am also a painter, and am currently working on an art and environmental defense project Liza's Reef, a series of paintings of an imaginary coral reef. I live just outside Asheville NC in a mountain valley with my wife Elizabeth, Hannah the cat and S.S. Charlemagne, our daughter Susanna's Arabian horse.
