The North Mills River
Recreation Area and Campground is part of the Pisgah District of the
Pisgah National Forest and is a great place to take kids on a picnic. Bring inner
tubes and rubber rafts. A gentle yet bold stream pro-vides the perfect place for
summer fun. The section of the stream where the kids tube even has a natural
beach area.
There are over 39 picnic units with grills along the river for cookouts, and
large ball playing fields and walking trails along the river. For campers there
are 32 excellent campsites which can accommodate tents or RVs up to 22 feet in
length.

About: The North Mills River runs through this recreation
area and camping facility. Each campsite is only a short stroll from
the river. Swimming, fishing and river tubing.
Facilities: Restrooms close to sites. and bathroom/shower
building
Tips: Hot summer days in July and August are great for
tubing.

Directions: From Exit 40 on Interstate 26, travel
west on US 280 past the airport six miles to traffic light at North
Mills River Road. Turn right and travel five miles to the North
Mills River Recreation Area.
