The slopes of the Western North Carolina mountains provide a wide variety of trails, from easy beginner to expert. The views are breathtaking and the facilities modern. Many of the resorts feature their own snow making equipment. Most people donít associate the south with skiing, but the Western North Carolina mountains, with their higher elevations and colder winters, do have excellent skiing. Wolf Ridge Ski Slopes is the closest to Asheville, a 30-minute drive north on Highway 19/23.

About: A full-service alpine snow ski and snowboard area. Features a 1,200-foot vertical drop, 18 slopes and trails, eight lifts, and a longest run of 1Ĺ miles. Tubing, ice skating and snowshoeing also.
